In 2001, building owner Transwestern and real estate management company GVA Williams hired Janko Rasic Architects to reposition 28 West 44th Street, a 21-story office building containing 309,817 square feet. As part of a multi-million dollar renovation program, Janko Rasic Architects upgraded the common corridors, bathrooms, and designed pre-built office suites of various sizes. Janko Rasic Architects renovated over 100,000 square feet of space including the offices of law firm Lustig & Brown LLP, executive training firm Exec/Comm and custom clothing manufacturer and retailer Tom James Company. After the succesful repositioing of the building, Transwestern was able to attract 12 interested bidders during the sale of the property in 2005. The winning bid from SL Green was $105 million.
